Using Multiple Report Sections Copyright 2006 Brian Bischof
9/11/2014†∑ I am designing an invoice template in Access Reports. My requirement is that I want the Detail section to remain at a fixed height and also to have a set of vertical lines which remain at the height of the detail section.... Then you would need a sub report with a different record source that is on the detail level. I think your best bet, is to omit the totals in the query and just let the report do the totals on the details.

7/12/2007†∑ You can customize a report in the following ways: Sections You can add, remove, hide, or resize the header, footer, and details sections of a report. You can also set section properties to control the appearance and printing of a report.
- B y packing the Detail data into two or more columns on the page, you can often save a lot of paper. To create columns of records you must deal with both the Margins and Columns tabs in the Page Setup dialog, as well as the layout of the report and its Detail section.
- In the group footer section, create a text box control for each sum, count, or other summary information that you want to print. To print totals and counts for the entire report, make a text box in the Report Header or Report Footer section. Then type an expression in the Control Source property for the text box, using aggregate functions such as Sum(), Avg(), and Count().
- Create a calculated control in a Detail, Group Header, or Group Footer section: The control source can use a field name or an expression to calculate the control's value. The expression is allowed to use an aggregate function.
- The horizontal lines need to be in the Page Header and Page Footer sections and not in the Report Header and Footer sections. If you add any Group sections, these will also need horizontal lines similar to your Detail section.
