General Information

The Barbary Coast Conservancy of the American Cocktail, proud presenter of The World’s First Cocktail Week, was founded in order to preserve the Cultural Heritage of saloons and their cocktails in San Francisco, while also celebrating California’s Culinary Philosophy and Tradition via Special Events, Publications, and Educational Seminars.
The BCCAC is a California non-profit 501c3 corporation founded by working entrepreneurs and entirely led by volunteers. As the fulcrum and conduit for cocktail culture in San Francisco, the Conservancy partners with trade organizations such as the Museum of the American Cocktail, the United States Bartenders Guild, the California Historical Society and the Center for Urban Education on Sustainable Agriculture to connect working bartenders with thirsty consumers, to create seminars on beverage history, and to bring Happy Hour to the Farmer’s Market.
To further our cause, in 2009 we broke ground on the Boothby Center: for the Beverage Arts: a community center-conference room-event space-booze lab with a fully functional bar. The BCCAC is the organization that connects brands and ideas, organizations and consumers in San Francisco, and now we have a permanent home. The Boothby Center at 1161 Mission Street was built to be both home and hub for the Beverage Community in San Francisco. With over 2,000 square feet it features both private and public workspace, a fully-functioning bar and meeting room, multimedia capabilities, a conference room and a storage vault. The Center is available to all persons, irrespective of professional affiliation.
